Is there anything more American than Route 66? On one road alone, you get to experience the diversity of the U.S. landscape. From prairies to mountains, deserts to plains, Rt. 66 has a way of introducing you to the majesty of America and seeing the world through a new perspective.
Natural wonders abound on the Main Street of America and its easy to see why this stretch of road has a perennial spot on most people’s bucket list. Take, for example, the Petrified Forest national park, encompassing the natural phenomenon’s namesake and the Painted Desert.
With bands of color that formed through years of erosion of the desert mountains, geological marvel is an out-of-this-world experience that must be seen to be believed. Coupled with the equally mesmerizing stonelike formations of ancient trees and fossilized. Large stretches of mountain look as though a watercolor brush was stroked across the sides, creating a visually stunning effect unlike anywhere else in the U.S.
What better place, then, to start our journey through Route 66 for the first in a new series of pens from Esterbrook? Petrified Forest is the latest Estie, celebrating the beauty of taking it easy on Route 66, bypassing the shortcuts for the long way around the country, and enjoying the natural splendor along the way. The acrylic blend perfectly matches the Arizona landscape, making this an ideal pen for those with a little bit of wanderlust and a lot of imagination in their hearts.

Take a look at Esterbrook Custom Nib Program and try "Journaler", "Scribe" and "Needlepoint" nib sizes. The first one is hand worked by Gena Salorino, an american nib master. In her own words, the custom nib Gena is grinding for Esterbrook is a “medium stub grind, based on the vintage Esterbrook 9314M nib. The idea is that it’s smooth and friendly enough for everyday use, gives your writing some flair, all without being too huge for practical writing”.
"Scribe" is made by the New Yorker Josh Lax and it's his version of architect nib. Gets inspired by the Near East architect nibs, less common than architect nibs based on European and Far Eastern styles of writing. It gives the writer the flexibility of fine downstrokes and broad horizontal strokes and can also be used in reverse for additional variation.
"Needlepoint" is hand worked by Kirk Speer of Pen Real. It writes finer than ExtraFine and with its needlepoint, as the name suggest, is precise and smooth. The ideal nib size for notetaking, writing on planner (also with reduced space!) or for artists who need to write very fine.
